This course is comprised of webinars and supporting documents to assist practitioners in understanding the role that trauma plays in the emotional and academic lives of students and how to include trauma-informed practice into instruction. The course provides an introduction to the physical and psychological affects of trauma, brain development, stress response, and the impact of trauma on students and teachers. Also included are strategies for creating a trauma-informed classroom and what teachers can do to foster a safe, supportive learning environment to benefit all students.

Note: While the core focus of the course resources is on childhood trauma, the information, strategies, and suggestions apply to students of all ages. Some Aspire students may have experienced trauma during childhood that has affected learning throughout their lifetimes and others may have experienced trauma as adults.
